Hi! How are you?
Make yourself comfortable. Tuck yourself under a blanket and make a hot drink. Christmas Eve is a time of magic and childlike wonder. Growing up, it was one of my favorite days of the year. The waiting, anticipation, and busyness all wrapped up into one day. I remember heading out early with my dad for last-minute shopping along with my siblings. We split up and found little gifts for one another. My mom happily stayed home to cook and make preparations for the celebration.
Before separating and heading to bed, my dad would gather all four kids on the bed and read The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore. No matter where we lived, this tradition continued without fail until I moved out with my hubby. That first Christmas Eve was hard for me. The quiet and change of traditions threw me.
I called my dad, crying, and asked him to read the book over the phone. I was incredibly touched and happy to hear his voice. The next year, he gifted me a copy of the book for my collection.
My boys are in their twenties, yet they allow me to continue our tradition. I am grateful for this time together.
Thank you for listening and sharing with the tradition.
I am taking some time away from writing during the holidays. I want to be present and stay off devices as much as possible. I will reflect and release 2024 to make space for dreaming. I am using the lovely workbook Unravel Your Year 2024 by
. This wonderful resource has been an annual tradition for years.I will see you in the New Year!
