The Quiet Courage of Violets:

Finding Strength in New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Hi! How are you?

I woke up at dawn, dragged my sacred nest outside, and began the day. Uplifted, I jumped on LIVE to share some of my practices. 😜 Before fear and perfection set in, I hit record and enjoyed it. Following a spark of inspiration can be a tiny step; other times, a bit of boldness is required.

Violets are among the first flowers to emerge in the Spring, although they have yet to arrive in the mountains. Their sudden and unexpected appearance reminds us that transformation usually happens beneath the surface long before visible change occurs. Their entangled roots in the image above display the nourishment they received for weeks before emerging. As one of the earliest flowers to bloom after winter, they represent resilience and hope in adversity.

When violets finally push through the still-cold Earth with their delicate yet determined presence, they embody strength. Courage isn't always loud or imposing but can be found in gentle persistence. Violets symbolize faithfulness through difficult seasons and the quiet rebirth that follows patient endurance, symbolizing our springtime when we begin again with renewed wisdom.

After the Solar Eclipse in Aries over the weekend, we may be slow to set intentions and move forward with plans, as a New Moon typically invites us. You can use the prompts below or reflect on what new beginnings are slowly emerging for you now.

Journal Prompts

Enjoy these prompts to explore the themes of new beginnings, strength, courage, and violets.

  1. Have you felt like a violet breaking through the frozen ground in your life? Was there a time when your quiet persistence led to an unexpected breakthrough?

  2. What makes you reluctant to begin something new?

  3. Consider the cycle of violets—dormant in winter, blooming in spring. What personal "season" are you in right now, and what wisdom might this current phase offer you?

  4. These small flowers often grow in clusters, supporting each other. Reflect on the communities that help you find courage during new beginnings. How might you be a "violet" for someone who needs support right now?

* The violets have yet to bloom in my mountain hideaway. I continue to check the yard daily for their beautiful purple blossoms. 😊

Talk to you soon!
