Listening Within
I listened to my inner knowing, I trusted my intuition, and changed my mind. 😉
Last week, I shared Celebrating Three Years with you and announced the upcoming membership in the Mountain Hideaway. I dreamed, I planned, but something was missing. Despite my desire to create a space for women to gather online, the timing was not right. The decision to pause the membership came from a series of unexpected situations.
Inspiration in Surprising Places
I successfully moved my son, Ethan, into his new single college apartment. Despite the tropical heat, after climbing three flights of stairs, the car was unpacked. When he went out on Saturday night, I unpacked (yes, he knew I was doing it) and performed a simple clearing ritual.
I walked through the apartment with dried sage from my garden. I sprinkled the sage on top of a crushed aluminum can and lit the little bundle. I slowly moved through the space and whispered wishes of good fortune and abundance. I set up my portable altar and took a seat. The journey through homeschooling and motherhood has been full of joy and challenges. I took the time to honor the changes and shifts in my life and my relationship with Ethan.
I cried, I smiled, I prayed.
Devotion
Devotion is the thread that weaves throughout my life. During my drive this weekend, I listened to the Yogaland Podcast episode 30 years of yoga, we’ve discovered which poses, myths, and cues. The conversation mentioned the old format of yoga classes, which were an hour and a half. Surprisingly, I began to cry while navigating Saturday traffic. I remembered the first time I walked into the yoga studio when my youngest son was a baby. Walking out the door, leaving behind two little boys, was the toughest thing, but it changed my life.
Taking time for yourself is an act of sacred devotion.
Returning home to Ethan’s empty room brought a swell of sadness and excitement. It marked yet another transition. I began the process of cleaning, clearing, and returning my hubby’s office to the vacated room. I reorganized my art supplies into a small cabinet I brought home from my parents’ house and reimagined the space. This is the perfect time to reassess the rooms in the house and shift things around.
Today, I walked down the driveway and collected some flowers for my altar. It was a challenge as Ethan was a little enthusiastic with his weed-eating this summer. I found small pockets of goldenrod, yarrow, and daisies poking out that alluded his keen eye. I filled out the bouquet with wild ferns that are abundant in the woods. I mindfully cleared and prepared the altar for the upcoming New Moon.
Virgo New Moon and Virgo Season
Ushering in Virgo Season, a special New Moon arrives on September 22 (11:06 PT) or September 23 (2:06 EDT) for me in the woods. When Grandmother Moon sits in the Earthy sign of Virgo, she reminds you that self-care is not an indulgence, but something to honor and value.
I am honoring my time and energy at this time. My brain is slow, making the writing process take tooooo long. I plan to spend most of the weekend offline to celebrate and honor the New Moon. Listening to the wisdom that Grandmother Moon offers me and capturing it in my visual journals.
Take the time to slow down and turn within. The gifts are unimaginable!
Talk to you soon!
