Seasonal wisdom and lunar rhythms
Hi! How are you?
I returned to the mountains after spending three weeks in New Hampshire. Unfortunately, I brought the hot, sticky weather home with me. 🥵
After unpacking the necessities, I relaxed on the couch with a movie and homemade pizza made by my son. Unrolling my yoga mat on the porch the next morning allowed me to move, breathe, and unravel the tension from the fourteen-hour car trip. My practice left me feeling grounded, rooted, and settled.
Waking my kiddo up early to beat the tourists, I drove to Moses Cone, off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, to grab a parking spot. To my surprise, the trails were quiet, despite being on a holiday weekend. Walking and talking allowed me to arrive back home and find my rhythm.
Cancer Season
We are in the middle of Cancer Season, which the Moon governs. The Moon, the Great Mother, guides our emotions and illuminates the shadows in our lives. She rules the tides of the ocean and influences the tides of our bodies and hearts. We are made of water, literally and metaphorically. The Moon’s pull reminds us that we are not meant to remain the same every day. We wax and wane. The Moon allows us to dive deeply into our emotions, bringing them to the surface to see, feel, and process.
Cancer Season is the season of home, family (blood or chosen), roots, belonging, and emotional truth. The Sun in Cancer lights up the Moon’s domain, encouraging us to listen inward and honor the wisdom of our feelings. It’s a time to soften the edges and tune into the more tender parts of ourselves.
It is easy to lose our footing on life's path.
Interuptions, distractions, and events can pull the rug out from under us, leaving us feeling scattered and unstable. Seasonal rhythms, rituals, and practices are tools that can help us navigate life with greater ease. When we lose our way, we can gaze up into the sky and spot Grandmother Moon.
She will guide us back on our path.

Intention of the Moon
“Things come to light in the dark that can easily be ignored during the day. I help to illuminate the shadows you might not wish to see. It is time to face them in order to find your path.”

Working with the Lunar Cycle
One of the most beautiful ways to reconnect with your intuition is by tracking the waxing and the waning of the Moon. Each phase offers a distinct energetic quality and an invitation to work with. The simple ritual of tracking the current phase of the moon allows you to note your energy and personal rhythms.
*** If you are currently menstruating, you can add this to your notes.

Cancer Season Moon Spread
This Moon Spread is designed to align with the watery, intuitive, and emotional energy of Cancer Season. Select the Moon card from one of your tarot decks for inspiration, and place it at the top of the spread. Softly gaze at the card and take in its imagery, colors, and symbols.
Shuffle your deck and ask each question quietly to yourself. Once you feel centered, draw a card and place it facedown underneath the Moon card. Continue to shuffle and ask the questions for the remaining placements.
Card 1: What truth is coming to the surface now?
Card 2: Where are you being called to come home to yourself?
Card 3: What emotional pattern is ready to be released?
Card 4: What is supporting you in this process?
** Feel free to journal the questions without using Tarot cards.
Once all the cards are face down, slowly turn each one over to reveal the images. Take your time. Allow your gaze to take in the entire spread without needing to reach for the guidebook. Notice the images, colors, and other elements that draw your attention. Do a quick sketch in your journal or write down the names of the cards.
Trust your intuitive process.
You can continue to journal from your instincts and refer to the guidebook for additional information.
Spend a few minutes journaling under the light of the Moon. Let the answers rise like the tides, gently, in their own time.
Mantra for the Moon
“Though at times I may stray from the path, I can always trust that the Moon will help guide me back.”

Hi Blythe!
Welcome home from your trip to New Hampshire. I do however disagree and say that no, you did not "bring the hot, sticky weather home with you" because this hot 100F daily weather has been around many parts of the US as well as up here in Canada. Talk about climate warming! Now I don't know how you folks are set up where you happen to live but I have to really appreciate that our house operates on cool central a/c. Having lived without it for years when I was growing up with my parents, I am well aware as to how uncomfortable it can get to get a good night's sleep without it. Oh well, I do have to admit that I can handle a lot of hot weather much better that many weeks during the winter when the weather can turn really bitterly cold. I can survive if our a/c should conk out but if, during a cold winter, our furnace decides to quit well then - that's a whole different level of drama.
I read where the Cancer Season means many things to you. For me I relate it each year to my wife's birthday, which is next Monday and which (like anniversaries) I don't dare forget! 🤫
So, to quote your words "May you find rhythms that nourish you" and wish you a pleasant (and hopefully cooler) weekend ahead. Take care now and yes, we'll chat here again soon.
