Honoring Time to Pause:
Seeking balance and peace during the Equinox
Hi!
How are you?
I ask that today, not in a flippant way. I am curious how you are feeling right now.
Take a moment, pause, and listen…really listen for an answer.
I’m tired.
I drew this oracle card last night during a New Moon Circle. As I sat with the question, “What is stirring in you now?” I gazed at the card.
A sweet brown bear is resting on a tree stump in a forest with reishi mushrooms attached to the tree bark. There is a dreamy quality to this card that depicts my current state.
As the New Moon sits in watery Pisces, the last astrological sign of the year, I am honoring this time to pause.
To reflect.
To meditate.
To listen within.
Despite the Equinox occurring tomorrow, I am not ready to leap and bound. There was a snowstorm on Monday and freezing temperatures. I’m visiting my mother-in-law in Indiana, and the ground remains hard and frozen. The flowers have yet to show their faces, but the robins are scattered everywhere.
Sitting with the New Moon energy this morning, I drew this card.
Painting the background of my visual journal blue and layering colored pencil and white tempera stick brings the card to life. I feel the overabundance of water, even the waterlogged emotional surge in this card. On the opposite page, I allowed the words to flow in a non-rushed, free-flowing manner.
I am taking this time to recharge and recuperate. I recognize that personal growth will follow if I honor this time and take care of myself.
I trust myself to listen. 🥰

Hi Blythe !
You wrote that you were tired. I guess a lot of folks are feeling that way these days, including yours truly. Weather-wise for weeks now, here in "Tundra Land", we've been having rainy weather one day, freezing drizzle and then later heavy snow the next day, and then, as the old saying goes, "rinse and repeat". That said, I read of others who are worse off, dealing with extreme heat conditions along with damaging storms. So yes, we're all getting tired of this routine, for sure.
Then, of course, crazy world events aren't exactly peachy great either - what with gas prices going up non-stop daily while people's savings/investments are going in the opposite direction. Yup, getting tired of all that drama and nonsense as well.
So what to do. Well I guess all one can do is: avoid morbid social media, stay indoors more, take things one day at a time, don't sweat the small stuff because everything in life is just that - small stuff --- AND keep dropping in to read your regular substack posted entries to then come away in a much better mood. 😉
So thank you, my friend, as you take time to take care of yourself, your writings to us readers encourage us to do likewise. Talk to you soon as well.
Very much here for taking it slow! Excited it is spring equinox but also not quite ready for it! Sending love xx
